Another very interesting young gun joins the group of talented riders about whom LAMPRE-MERIDA take care: he’s Simone Consonni and he’s very fast. The rider who was born in Ponte San Pietro i n 1994 enters in the group of athletes whose improvements will be followed with attention by the team of team manager Brent Copeland.

The fast sprint is the best quality of Consonni and it gave him the opportunity to obtain many victories in the three years he has spent in the Under 23 category (7 in 2015, the most recent on Saturday in Trofeo Viguzzolo) wearing the jersey of Team Colpack.

“We’re intensifying the attention to the young talents, trying to grant them a step-by-step entry into the pro world: cooperating with their Under 23 teams, we gave the riders the necessary assistance and we have the aim to introduce them, at the right time, to the pro level of the World Tour," team manager Copeland explained. "Consonni is very fast, he’s reactive, he’s one of the most interesting Italian riders for the future.

"The staff and the management of the Team Colpack made a very good job with him, as they did with Edward Ravasi, who’ll soon debut as trainee in our team.

"We’ll decide with his current team when Simone will became pro, joining a group of very interesting young talents such as Cattaneo, Conti, Petilli, Ravasi, Ganna and, for what concerns the international side, Meintjes, Pibernik and Polanc.

Simone Consonni said: "I'm very happy for having obtained the interest from a top team likeLAMPRE-MERIDA. I'd like to thank the management of the Team Colpack, namely Rossella Dileo, Gianluca Valoti and Antonio Bevilacqua, in addition to president Beppe Colleoni, who keeps demonstrating his passion for cycling by giving young riders the opportunity to realize the dream of becoming a pro rider.

"Thanks a lot also to Giuseppe Saronni and Brent Copeland and the whole staff from LAMPRE-MERIDA for having decided to give me the opportunity to be part of the team".
