"For a short and nervous TTT with a lot of corners like today you need to think a lot."
Those were the words of Astana's Rein Taaramäe after stage two at the Vuelta a Burgos. Taaramäe and his teammates won the brief but fast time trial through the cobblestone streets of Burgos by a large victory margin, with a 28-second advantage over Caja Rural and Movistar.
With the team victory Luis Leon Sanchez moves into the leader's purple jersey ahead of three more days of racing, including two hard mountain stages on Friday and Saturday.
Mikel Landa turned too wide on one of the final corners in Burgos and crashed into the barriers, but did not suffer any injuries. At that point, he had already been dropped by his teammates. Originally, the commissaires gave him the same time as his teammates but after having learned that he had already been distanced at the time of the crash, he now finds himself 1.09 behind Sanches in the overall standings.
