Caja Rural-Seguros RGA leaves the Challenge de Mallorca with 4 podiums, two for José Gonçalves (mountains and special sprints classification) and two for Lluis Mas (best Balearic rider). Sprinter Francesco Lasca came away with a 12th and 15th place.
The Spaniard Mas took stock of the Challenge de Mallorca: "As it is the beginning of the season, I have quite a good feeling, but it is also true that racing at home with your family always gives you an added strength and desire. It was nice to see all my people cheering. The award for best Balearic is perhaps not the most important, but they are two days on the podium for the team. In Saturday's race I preferred to step off, having gone down in the previous race, to be ready to help Lasca today. I have seen a good team. It was out first races and overall we did well. We are ready, it's a great sign."
Francesco Lasca commented on the final race in which he was 12th.
"It was a difficult day, with cold and wind," he said. "The race was nervous all day. The truth is that I felt pretty good. Less than 2 kilometers from the finish, I was boxed in and I could not find a way to finish the great work the team had done to help me. In the first race, we have seen where to improve. Hopefully we can be better in the Clasica Almeria. Now we have to continue our work to improve the final details. I have seen a good team, I have great confidence in all of them and we will make a great year. I had no problems with my injuries in Mallorca. I just need to continue my work."
