Big things were expected from Francesco Lasca in 2014 but the Italian sprinter never achieved his goals. Several health issues have been plaguing him and he now hopes to recover in time for the 2015 season.
It has been a season to forget for Francesco Lasca. The Caja Rural rider was forced to miss the first few months of competition because of hip surgery and in the second half he didn't achieve the results he was hoping for. The reason for his poor performance is a phyical problems in his right leg which goes back to "a crash in the Tour of Turkey" the Italian sprinter tells Spaziociclismo.
Since the crash he has had a "hematoma on the lower and outer buttock" that has not been healing like expectated and was causing "pain in the knee." In recent weeks, Lasca has undergone "specific therapy with ultrasoound treatment" in order "to solve the problem permanently. Knowing that there will be lots of work to do with the osteopath who will try to "remove all imbalances that have been created," Lasca is still optimistic for 2015 as he has already seen "improvements in the last couple of weeks" and knows that he will have "enough time to prepare the season with confidence."
Speaking about 2014, Lasca admits that it has been no success but he has no regrets about the outcome, knowing that he has always tried to do his best. It will be a "season with useful experiences" even though it was a year that was "hard to get through."
