The new Doha Cycling Team will have to wait for another year. The team announced at the Tour de France that they would provide more information on August 1 but since then it has been silent. "We are forced to postpone our plans for a year," team owner Nadia Taousi tells Cyclingpro.net.
The reason for the delay is the earthquake which took place on August 24 in Italy.
"Our headquarters in Marche has been damaged massively like many homes. The whole area is unusable for an indefinite period. After careful analysis and more inspections in the damaged area, we decided to postpone the launch of Doha Cycling to the 2018 season. It was a difficult decision. Everything was ready, but the earthquake damaged our entire logistics. We tried to fix it, but everything is destroyed. My staff and I want the best possible start to the project. It is very important in the first season, so we decided to wait another year."
