According to Het Nieuwsblad, the Belgian city of Liege is looking to host a finish to a stage in the 2015 Tour de France.
The race begins in Utrecht in Holland so it is possible for the race to head into Belgium but Liege will have competition with Flemish cities like Antwerp and Middelkerke. The race is also in Belgium this year, with stage 5 finishing in Ypres, using many of the cobbled sectors from the Paris-Roubaix race.
Liege has a good chance as the ASO, the Tour’s race organisers, also run Liege-Bastogne-Liege and they have visited Liege before in the Tour, during the Grand Depart for the last two occasions, with Fabian Cancellara winning his first ever Tour stage in 2004 and taking the prologue again in 2012. In fact, the first time Liege was a stage finish was way back in 1948, showing that Liege has got a longstanding relationship with the Tour.
