Today the Giro d'Italia peloton will ride in the opposite direction of yesterday, this time the stage starts in Nijmegen and finishes in Arnhem. Again it is a stage for the sprinters.
One of the Dutch riders in the peloton is Pim Ligthart who is pleased to ride in his home country.
“A Grand Tour that starts in your own country is of course something special. I know this region because with the national track team we stayed and trained in the Olympic centre in Papendal and Apeldoorn. Gelderland is indeed completely pink now! Today I expect a same kind of stage as yesterday: an early breakaway and the sprint teams that control the gap. We are one hundred per cent motivated," he said.
Yesterday his teammate André Greipel finished 15th in the sprint.
