Bert-Jan Lindeman has won his greatest victory so far in his career after the race was determined on the last stage. Bert-Jan Lindeman was able to hold on to his lead in a stage, which was won by Julian Alaphilippe of OPQS.
Lindeman won the third stage of the race and has held on to the lead until the very end. The Dutch rider of Rabobank has before won Le Tour de Bretagne and Ronde van Drenthe.
"It was a very triggy day. I did my best and it was enough. I'm very happy. In the beginning, there was the attack of four men and the team controlled it very well. The gap stabilized between two and three minutes. The there was a attack with Bardet. I want to thank my team. The last ten km I rode alone at the front. I didn’t receive any aid. It was a team victory,” he said to DirectVelo.
Lindeman says the victory is a result of good team work. The team didn’t receive any help at all from other teams.
“We didn’t get any help at all. We did everything ourselves and I’m very proud. All respect to my team-mates. This is a very young team, it's just great. It shows that we are on the right track to train young riders. This is the kind of terrain where we are strongest. When it's flat like the classics, that's fine, but when it goes up, we have a team that is doing very well. Sam Oomen, which is only a first year rider and climbs so well, it's really great. This is by far the best victory I won."
