Prior to the start of the Castilla y Leon the Euskaltel-Euskadi team was the only winless WorldTour team of the season. That changed yesterday when Pablo Urtasun won the opening stage, and today his teammate Juan Jose Lobato doubled the team’s number of wins by outsprinting Francesco Lasca (Caja Rural) and American Ken Hanson (Optum Pro Cycling) after the 164.1 km stage.
Despite coming second, however, Lasca was able to assume the role of overall leader after once again picking up some time bonuses for his second place finish.
Lasca enjoys a two second lead over both Lobato and Urtasun with Enrique Sanz (Movistar) and Hanson sitting further 6 seconds back.
Sunday's third and final stage is a 183 km trek from Aguilar de Cam to Cervera del Pisuerga.
