David Lopez secured third place overall at the Tour of Norway after the race reached its finale in Honefoss. The Spaniard finished safely in the bunch to cap a consistent five days of racing with a podium finish, one minute and five seconds behind overall winner Jesper Hansen (Tinkoff-Saxo).

The final stage produced a surprise result as the breakaway held on to claim victory, with Andreas Vangstad (Sparebanken Sor) crossing the line 11 seconds ahead of counterpart Frederik Strand Galta (Team Coop-Oster Hus).

Alexander Kristoff (Katusha) led the bunch home a further three seconds back, with both Lopez and Lars Petter Nordhaug safely ensconced.

10th place overall was the end result for Nordhaug, 1:51 back on Hansen, who carved out his victory on the day three queen stage.

"All in all we can be happy with third on GC," said Sports Director Gabriel Rasch to the Team Sky website. "I think we could have potentially won the stage yesterday with David but he was thinking a little bit more towards the GC. We were just missing that stage win during the race. We got a second and a third on the stages.

"We began the race with only five guys so I don't think we could have done anything much different. Lars Petter was still strong here but he's not going as well as he was in the Ardennes and at Tour de Yorkshire. But he can be happy with how he has ridden this month."
