Even though an early season transfer rumours were reduced to the hotly discussed Pater Sagan’s (Cannondale) future so far this year, according to Sporza, Lotto-Belisol expressed some intrest in acquiring two young and highly promising Topsport Vlaanderen-Baloise riders – Tom Van Asbroeck and Kenneth Vanbilsen, for the Belgian team.
Van Asbroeck has won the Cholet-Pais De Loire and Vuelta a Andalucia mountains classification this season, with impressive results so far in the cobbled classics, including finishing runner-up in Nokere Koerse, seventh in Dwars door Vlaanderen and sixth in Gent-Wavelgem.
Vanbilsen won his season’s opening GP Marseillaise and finished runner-up in Classics Loire Atlantique and Driedaagse De Panne points classification following top ten results in all bunch sprints.
Performances of the two 23-year old Belgians had to rise an attention of the teams interested in acquiring future classics stars, and even though this is usually too early in the season for a more particular contract offers to come, apparently Lotto-Belisol decided to anticipate moves of other squads in case of Van Asbroeck and Vanbilsen.
