Lotto Belisol has unveiled the jersey for the 2014 season and the design has been given a major overhaul. As one of cycling's oldest teams, the squad has waned to give the jersey a retro look and has changed the colour which will be predominantly red.

It's the time of the year when teams start to present their jerseys for the coming season and the most recent team to reveal their future tunic is the Lotto Belisol team. Being a team with a long history, the team has decided to go retro for the new season.

"Most important aim of the design was to refer to the 30 years of Lotto tradition in cycling with a basic retro look on one hand and to come forward together with Belisol as one close team on the other, and emphasizing with it the Belgian character of the team. Also basic values ‘offering opportunities’ and ‘fulfilling dreams’ are reinforced with it," the team stated in a press release.

The new jersey, as modeled by Tosh van der Sande, is mostly red with the two title sponsors in black letters on the front. The back of the jersey is red and to emphasize its Belgian character, bands with the Belgian flag have been added to both the jersey and the bib shorts.

The team had a successful 2013 season that included 28 wins, most of them taken by star sprinter Andre Greipel. The German will be back in 2014 where he will lead the team alongside GC rider Jurgen Van Den Broeck, Ardennes specialist Jelle Vanendert and cobbles specialist Jurgen Roelandts.

The team has tried to add more depth to its roster by signing no less than 9 riders. Maxime Monfort and Tony Gallopin are the major names but Kris Boeckmans, Pim Ligthart and Sander Armee will also add considerable strength to the team. The focus on young riders will be continued with the addition of Stig Broeckx, Vegard Breen, Boris Vallee and Sean De Bie.

The team will kick off its season in January at the Tour Down Under where Greipel will again aim to get the year off to a successful start.
