Koen Bouwman will finish this season as a trainee with Team LottoNL-Jumbo. The 21-year-old climber of SEG Racing will ride for the Dutch squad for the first time on September sixth in the Tour of Britain.
During the Prudential Ride London on Sunday, he was in action with Team LottoNL-Jumbo for the first time this season. Twan Castelijns wa also part of the team in the English one-day-race. Steven Lammertink accompanies the team from the Tour de Poitou Charentes. A third trainee will be added to the team during the Tour of Britain.
“Koen Bouwman won a mountain stage in the Giro Ciclistico della Valle d’Aosta Mont Blanc,” Sports Director Nico Verhoeven said. “That stage finished on the Gran San Bernardo, which says something about Koen. Besides that, he finished fourth in the national time trial championships.
"We offered him an internship because of his capacities against the clock and as a climber. He’s going to make his debut in the Tour of Britain. That’s a tough race, so he will be able to show off immediately."
