John Degenkolb followed up on his 11th place in this morning’s sprint stage with the fastest time of the team in the day’s second stage individual time trial.

Degenkolb ended the day’s 8.6km time trial in 24th place, 26 seconds down on stage winner Javier Moreno (Movistar Team). Despite Moreno’s stage win, Alberto Contador (Tinkoff-Saxo) moved into the race lead following his fourth place on the stage. Degenkolb now sits in ninth on GC.

Tobias Ludvigsson finished in 37th position at a respectable 33 seconds adrift despite heavy pains in his wrist following a heavy fall in the morning’s stage. Sadly Ludvigsson will not start the next stage tomorrow, as he head’s back to The Netherlands for further checks on his wrist with the team’s physicians and medial experts.
