Having entered the Tour de Romandie with a few health concerns, Tobias Ludvigsson ended the Tour de Romandie on a high when he finished 11th in today's final time trial of the race. The Swede now feels ready for his upcoming goals at the Giro d'Italia.
Tobias Ludvigsson has raced to 11th in the 18.5km closing individual time trial of the Tour de Romandie, fastest rider for Team Giant-Shimano. He finished just 36 seconds down on stage and overall winner, Chris Froome on the day, and just seven seconds off finishing in the top 10.
After his effort, Ludvigsson said: “I enjoyed it on the TT bike today and it was a nice course for me with the hill and the power sections too. I went full gas and am starting to get my race speed again which is good before the Giro.
“It has been a hard week’s racing but it will serve us well for he Giro starting next week.”
Georg Preidler finished just under a minute further back in 52nd place, and overall finished in 34th place.
The Tour de Romandie was the final race for most of the Team Giant-Shimano riders before the Giro d’Italia, including Ludvigsson and Preidler. After a hard race in the tough Swiss hills the team should now be in a good position to start the first Grand Tour of the season in Belfast next Friday.
