Stage three in the 36th Tour of Bayern (205,9 km from Selb to Ebern) was a copy of stage 1 and stage 2 and for the third time in a row Nacer Bouhanni (Cofidis) finished 2nd. This time the stage win – again in a mass sprint - was for Sam Bennett (Bora-Argon 18). The Irish rider won ahead of Bouhanni and Ramunas Navardauskas (Cannondale-Garmin). Bennett takes over the yellow leader’s jersey from John Degenkolb (Giant-Alpecin).
Team Katusha stayed attentive and safe and did not mind that four riders rode 175km in the front, knowing that they would be caught by the sprinters’ teams. Eduard Vorganov became the best Katusha’s performer with 16th place.
Tomorrow is more important. Then we will try to do a good time trial with Tiago Machado," said team director José Azevedo.
Saturday’s time trial from Hassfurt to Hassfurt is 26 km long and will decide on the Overall classification.
