Rafal Majka may have finished back in 12th in yesterday's queen stage of Paris-Nice but his Tinkoff-Saxo team insist that he is getting close to his peak shape and that we can expect a lot from him in the upcoming Volta a Catalunya.

Even though Rafal Majka is some distance from the top of the Paris-Nice general classification as a result of an unfortunate puncture, Tinkoff-Saxo’s polish climber is getting close to top shape. The durable climber finished 7th in last year’s Italian Grand Tour and he intends to exchange that result with one on the podium.
 
In today’s 221,5 km. stage 6 of Paris-Nice, he crossed the finish line after a short sprint climb to Fayence as number 12 close within range of the winner, Carlos Betancur, showing great form. Sport Director, Fabrizio Guidi, was happy with what he saw:
 
"Even though he still lacks the last burst on the short climbs, he is getting close to his optimal shape. Rafal is a durable rider and on the longer penultimate 8,2 km climb he was feeling really good and sat comfortably with the other favorites."
 
With no real long finishing climbs in Paris-Nice, Rafal Majka has put his sights on the GC and a stage win in Volta a Ciclista a Catalunya, where Fabrizio Guidi believes that Majka will be able to use his current shape.
 
"With a lot of mountains in Catalunya, Rafal will definitely try to prove that he is one of the biggest climbing talents at all. When we look at his data, we see a very strong rider with the potential to evolve and progress even further. We will soon be at a point in the season where our top riders are meant to peak. So I’m confident that we have an exciting time ahead," finishes Fabrizio Guidi.
