According to his official facebook profile, Rafał Majka has finally recovered from the elbow injury sustained in the last stage of the Paris-Nice and the young Tinkoff-Saxo climber will return to competition in the Criterium International this weekend.
Majka was initially set to return to competition as a main support to Alberto Contador in Volta a Catalunya, but a bad sensations experienced while training forced the 24-year old Pole to delay his comeback.
"I am delighted to be going back to racing earlier than initially thought. During the last three days I drove over 15h in trainings, during which I beat a lot of heavy uphills. Feel very well, but still suffer a little from the elbow. However, on Saturday I will be ready to start,” Majka informed via his facebook page.
Despite a traditionally diverse course of the French race with an individual time trial favoring more versatile riders, the general classification is to be decided in the mountaintop finish on the Col de l’Ospedale and Polish climber is looking forward to test his legs on the Corsican climb.
“Critérium International consists of three stages. The first two take place on Saturday and third on Sunday. Especially look forward to the last section leading from Porto -Vecchio to Col de l' Ospedale ( 176km ). Finish is played on the hard climb (14.1 km, 6.2%), on which I am going to fight. I can’t wait to take off in France!”
