The 2013 season that should be considered as a breakthrough one for Rafał Majka of Tinkoff-Saxo, as the young Polish climber recorded a stellar performance at the Giro d’Italia finishing 6th overall and narrowly missing on winning the youth riders classification in an exciting encounter with Carlos Betancur (Ag2r La Mondiale).

The 24-year old Pole, called by Alberto Contador a Grand Tour contender to beat in the future, confirmed his class on few other occasions in 2013, including a solid yet unspectacular show-offs at Tour de Pologne and Vuelta a Espania, before he prevailed an unyielding Tuscan rain to record a strong podium finish at the season’s closing Il Lombardia.

While Majka attends the Tinkoff-Saxo training camp currently held in Gran Canaria, the young Pole revealed some of his plans for the new season via his facebook profile.

Even though the information suggests that some details of his racing schedule hasn’t been ultimately confirmed yet, the young Pole kicks-off 2014 year with ambitions to improve on his previously recorded, impressive results, and there is no question that his main objective for the new season will be once again the Giro d’Italia.

"From January 7th I’m training with other team-mates at Tinkoff-Saxo camp. Not a little - every day 4-6h ride with exercises to improve my professional skills. Squeezing oranges are over, and began the hard work, which I really like. Atmosphere in the team is excellent and everyone is militant for the upcoming races. I`ll stay at the training camp till Jan. 22th. First races will begin in late February or early March. Objective No. 1 is obviously the Giro d`Italia,” Majka informed media and fans via his facebook profile
