Rafał Majka will follow an entirely different schedule in 2015 season, including his debut in Ardennes classics, supporting Alberto Contador at the Tour de France and taking over a leadership role at Tinkoff-Saxo in the season's final three-week event, the Vuelta a Espana.
According to pro-cycling.org, the 25-years old Polish climber will kick-off his 2015 season at the star-studded Tour of Oman (February 17-22), before lining up along with his fellow compatriot and current world champion Michał Kwiatkowski (Etixx-Quick Step) at the Paris – Nice (March 8-15). Vuelta a Catalunya (March 23-29) will be another certain point in Majka's race programme, while his appearance in the Vuelta al Pais Vasco (April 6-11) is also strongly considered. The final decision on whether last year's Tour de France mountains classification winner will take the start of the event held in the hilly Basque Country will be made shortly before its beginning.
Ardennes classics will mark another important moment in Majka's season, as the 26-years old Tinkoff-Saxo rider will debut in three hilly one-day classics – the Amstel Gold Race (April 19), Fleche Wallonne (April 22) and Liege-Bastogne-Liege (April 26). According to Polish media, young climber will take the start of these events without particular expectations, eager to gain another experiences and test himself in one-day races. First part of 2015 season will be concluded with participation in the Tour de Romandie.
After over a one-month break from competition, Majka will return to rivalry at the Tour de Suisse (June 13-21) which will serve as his final build-up before participating in the national championship road race and heading to his first big objective of 2015, the Tour de France (July 4-26). The 25-years old climber will return on the French roads following his splendid appearance in last year's edition of la Grande Boucle, in which he strongly contributed to saving the event for Tinkoff-Saxo team after they lost their leader with two stage wins and a victory in the mountains classification. The Polish rider will line-up at the event with the same role as in the previous season, expected to support Contador in his battle for the yellow jersey.
Following his appearance in the Tour de France, Majka may defend his 2014 Tour de Pologne (August 2-9) title, even though such information needs further confimation. Vuelta a Espana (August 22 – September 13) will be the next certain point in his programme, however, as the 25-years old climber has been named the Tinkoff-Saxo leader for season's ultimate three-week event.
