Adriano Malori won't join the group of riders that are trying to break the Hour Record. The Italian Movistar riders refuses to do the work and preparation that is involved in a successful attempt.

First Jens Voigt covered 51.115km and the Matthias Brändle did better with 51.852km as they have kick started a new interest in the Hour Record after the UCI changed the rules. On paper, Adriano Malori should be able to do better as he beat Brändle by 2.28 at the Worlds in Ponferrada where he finished sixth. And this year he won time trials in San Luis, Tirreno-Adriatico, the Vuelta a Espana and at the Italian National Championships.

When it comes to the Hour Record, Malori is honest.

"I have been asked a lot. It is not something that is on my horizon. I have the utmost respect for those who try to break the record," he tells La Gazzetta dello Sport after having returned from a vacation in New York. "UYou have to prepare for a kind of effort that is not exactly the same as a time trial. It is much more specific. I do not see myself doing laps on a velodrome for an hour."

The Movistar Team rider intends to focus on the road season.

"For humans like me, it could be worth trying before the summer of 2015 because at that time Wiggins will make his attempt and he will set a record that will be hard to beat for a while. But I will not sacrifice my preparation for the road season which is going to be crucial because my contract with Movistar is about to expire. I want to make steps forward in 2015 after a 2014 season that was more than positive and in which I was competitive throughout the year. The record it not for me at the moment," Malori says.
