Year after year Adriano Malori is getting closer to the top of the cucling world. The Movistar rider now belongs to one of the best time triallists in the world. In 2015, he proved his new status on several occasions, most notably when he won the silver medal at the World Championships in Richmond.

It was an important result for the Italian who has made great strides since he joined Eusebio Unzue’s team. Now he hopes to continue to follow the successful path in the new year where he will be take aim at the Olympics and the World Championships.

”I feel very good,” he told Spaziociclismo in an interview. “The road to 2016 has started very well. Surely I want to have a good Olympics and a nice performance at the World Championships.

Malori will have a schedule that is very similar to the one he had in 2015.

“I'll start at the Tour de San Luis. Then I'll do Tirreno - Adriatico, the classics and the Tour de France.”

Malori is known as true rouleur who excels in flat time trials. This makes the World Championships in Qatar an obvious goal while he admits that the very mountainous course in Rio could be a challenge.

“At the Worlds, I will have more chances to medal, the Olympics are very hard,” he said, adding that he also hopes to get selected for the road race in Doha.”

In addition to his silver medal in Richmond, Malori had a solid 2015 season where he won time trials in Tirreno-Adriatico, the Tour de San Luis, the Tour du Poitou-Charentes and the Italian Championships. He also supported Nairo Quintana in the Tour de France.

“I draw a positive balance say positive. I will give myself a nice 6.5,” he said. “It is always nice to do the Tour de France. To get selected is already a satisfaction.

“I have no regrets about the Worlds. Kiriyenka was stronger, even the winning margin was small. Now I know that I can win the Worlds.”
