Francisco Mancebo has taken three medals at the Arab Games Clubs that is being held in Cairo (Egypt) this week: silver in the road race and time trial and bronze in the team time trial. Teams from countries likes the United Arab Emirates, Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Sudan, Jordan participate in the Games.
The road race (136 km) was won by Algerian Azzedine Lagaab from Groupement Pétrolier, 10 seconds ahead of Mancebo (Al Ahli) and 24 seconds ahead of Abdelbasset Hanachi in third.
In the time trial, specialist Kyrgyz Eugen Wacker (Al Nasr) won the 30km test with a time of 35:27 while Mancebo was second with 37:50 and Azzedine Lagaab third with 38:37. Wacker, 40, is a four-time Asian champion.
Finally, Al Nasr (with brothers Mirza Yusif and Bader and Eugen Wacker) covered the 60 kilometers in a time of 1:13:13; seconds while the Algerians of Groupement Pétrolier were second with a time of 1:16:05. Mancebo's Al Ahli was third in 1:17:44.
Yesterday the Tour of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates started. Mancebo takes part in the race for his SkyDive Dubai team and he was third in the first stage behind Edgar Nohales and Angel De Julian.
