After winning stage four of the Tour de France over cobbles this year, Tony Martin has evidently had his appetite for the pave whetted. He is now looking to ride Paris-Roubaix.

"This was the second test run for me, as I do these races and so far I can see that I am good at them," Martin told the German paper Bild-Zeitung.

He was due to ride Roubaix this year but when Etixx-QuickStep manager Patrick Lefevere met with the Classics team, this idea didn’t go down well. As a great time triallist, Martin could perhaps emulate Swiss legend Fabian Cancellara on the cobbles, winner of three Roubaixs.

But looking ahead to 2016, his biggest is to take home and Olympic Gold in Rio.

"That would be above everything. Four years ago, I would have probably said otherwise, but anyone who has once been there, know what an Olympic Gold medal means,” said Martin.
