Having already taken a win in the team time trial, Tony Martin has now set his sights on a third consecutive rainbow jersey in the time trial. Sunday's ride gave him great confidence and he feels ready for his title defence.
Last year Tony Martin had a highly successful world championships in Valkenburg when he won both the team and individual time trials. This year he hopes to repeat that performance.
The first step was taken on Sunday when his Omega Pharma-Quick Step team defended its team time trial title. Tomorrow it is time for the individual race and Martin was reassured by his sensations in Saturday's race.
"The team time trial gave me great confidence," he said after Sunday's win. "If you have good legs today, I think it is difficult to lose them before Wednesday."
"The form is good, I have a clear head and have confidence. That makes it easier to be ready for Wednesday. I really believe in myself now. The first step has been taken. Now I just have to take the next one."
Unsurprisingly, Martin points to Fabian Cancellara and Bradley Wiggins as his biggest rivals. Starting at 13.15 CEST you can follow the battle between the time trial giants on CyclingQuotes.com/live.
