Known as a very aggressive rider, Luis Mas enjoyed the most beautiful moment of his sporting career when he took the mountains jersey after stage 3 of the Vuelta a Espana. The Spaniard dedicates his tunic to his wife who is about to give birth to their child.

For several years, Luis Mas has animated the Spanish races while riding for the small Burgos team. This year he has got his chance to show his skills in the biggest races as he has signed a contract with Caja Rural.

Riding his first grand tour, he immediately earned himself a place in the spotlight when he took the mountains jersey in stage 3 of the Vuelta a Espana.

"This is the most beautiful day of my career so far," he said. "I’ve dreamt about that for a long time. I thought my condition could allow me to break away and claim the polka dot jersey. The last climb was too far away from the finish so I stood up. My goal was reached. I dedicate this stage to my girlfriend. She’ll have a baby next month.”
