Racing is still on-going in Asia and America while others are putting their eyes on the 2016 season. That's the the case for Luis Angel Maté who has left for the French city of Lyon for the first gathering with the Cofidis team. It's a chance to have a first meeting with his teammates, meet the newcomers meet and talk with the directors.
"It will be a short gathering of just three days without the bike. We will do medical testing, stress testing, and meet with the directors." Looking ahead to the new campaign, the event is more important that it may seen. "In talking with directors, we will define targets and schedules. It is still very general and the goal is mainly to lay the foundations for the new year and also take the opportunity to meet the teammates," the Spaniard says in a press release.
.
Maté's season began in mid-October so he has already accumulated three weeks of training: "I ended my season very early. My last race was in Plouay on August 30 so after a bit of rest, I started earlier. For now everything is on the right track. I look forward to going to training camps, fine-tuning the preparation and getting in good shape for the first race. But first I have to work," he says.
Moreover, the team has decided to maintain most of the roster after extensive changes last year. There are five additions and the leader will again be Nacer Bouhanni: "The calendar will revolve around him," says Maté. Furthermore, the team's goal is to "grow with him and to win many races. He's a great rider, a winner with margin for progress."
After the gathering in Lyon, the next Cofidis training camp will be held December 8-16. The location is still to be determined.
