In a thrilling finale , Bennati led Matti Breschel into a good position with 400 meters to go from which he attempted to follow some of the world’s best sprinters, resulting in a 9th place.   

A breakaway dominated today’s 246 kilometre long one-day classic where Jonas Aaen Jørgensen participated. However, with 50 kilometres to go the breakaway was over. Hence, Manuele Boaro launched an optimistic attack together with Belkins Rick Flens. With 20 kilometres to go it was though over. 

"The team went really well and did an aggressive oriented race with attacks from Jonas and Manuele, besides Bennati delivered Breschel good for the mass sprint, but we were up against the hardcore sprinters here, who are very difficult to mix it up with. Matti is in great shape, and it will be exciting to follow him in the one-day races this fall", explained sportsdirector Dan Frost after the stage. 

The race was won by Johh Degenkolb who took the win ahead of Andre Greipel and Alexander Kristoff.
