Tom Meeusen took another podium spot in today's Bpost Bank Trofee race in Hasselt. Having suffered at the midpoint of the race, the Telenet-Fidea rider was unable to close the gap to Kevin Pauwels and Wout van Aert.
Tom Meeusen seemed to be in contention for the win in today's Bpost Bank Trofee race in Hasselt when he rode with Wout van Aert and Kevin Pauwels in the early part of the race. However, he quickly lost contact and was forced into chase mode with Sven Nys whom he beat in the sprint for third.
"The podium is always a good result," he told Het Nieuwsblad. "In the beginning, I missed the boat. I had a good start but wás left to chase. Luckily I was still prett good. When Kevin and Wout went, I just had a hard time. Together with Sven, I tried to keep the pace hard. He rode for his GC. We didn't manage to rejoin the leaders. It is very hard to close a gap on such a fast course."
