Tom Meeusen has added the Kermiscross in Ardooie to his palmares. The Belgian Telenet-Fidea riders already got clear during the first 15 minutes and repeated his performance from the Berencross in Meulebeke. Sven Nys (Crelan AA Drink) has never won in Ardooie and failed to close this gap in his palmares as he finished second ahead of Swiss Julien Taramarcaz (ERA Murprotec).
Tom Meeusen got confidence with his victory in Meulebeke and that inspired him to atack early on the fast course in Ardooie. The quick start Meeusen was hard for riders like Sven Nys and Klaas Vantornout. They would only see him again after the finish.
Behind Meeusen, a group of ten riders rode together. In the closing stages, there was another attack by Sven Nys who wanted to win the race for the first time but it was in vain. Meeusen persisted and Nys had to be satisfied with another place of honor. Swiss Julien Taramarcaz completed the podium.
Next Sundaythe second round of the World Cup takes place in the Dutch sicty of Valkenburg. Wout van Aert who didn't ride in Ardooie, leads the standings ahead of Sven Nys and Michael Vanthourenhout.
