Will the city of Metz welcome the finish of the 2nd stage of Tour de France 2017? The answer won’t be known before the route is presented on October 18. But Luxembourg paper L’Eseentiel asked Belkhir Belhaddad who works with sports in the city.
“Metz has a project with the Tour de France in the Grande Region. We are therefore in contact with several communities in Luxembourg, Germany and Nancy who have made a tentative agreement for a joint bid. We would like to have a time trial between Nancy and Metz, but everything depends what options the course gives. I will meet with officials in Trier next week. We work with the town of Esch-sur-Alzette and Luxembourg City.”
Metz (Moselle) hosted the Tour de France in 2012. World champion Peter Sagan won the sprint after a long 205km from Epernay.
The 2017 Tour de France will start with a time trial in the German city of Dusseldorf.
