The second sprint in the Tour de San Luis ended with the same podium as the opening stage. In Juana Koslay, the finish of the 3rd stage, Sacha Modolo again finished on the lowest step of the podium and was again preceded by the winner Fernando Gaviria and Mark Cavendish.
The Colombian was able to obain his second success with a long sprint which saw Modolo come forward on the wheel of Cavendish 500 meters from the line, thanks to the work of teammates Filippo Pozzato and Macimilano Richeze.
" I'm not pedaling bad, considering that we are early in the season, and the two podiums here in Argentina confirm that," explained Modolo. "I want to thank Filippo and Maximiliano who is great in giving me the usual support even though he is riding with bandages after his crash in stage 1. I continue on my path of growth, trying to take some satisfactions.
"The sprint was chaotic. There was a gap with 500m to go. I closed it to get back to Cavendish but when I started my sprint, he had already taken off. But it is normal, I have to reach top condition for Sanremo in March and keep it until the Giro. But I'm not too bad: last year I was not even placed in this stage. The motto is "no stress". "
There was no change in the overall standings, with Przemyslaw Niemiec 13th, 57" behind leader Daniel Diaz.
