The current U23 World Champion Matej Mohoric was one of nine Cannondale riders with existing contracts for 2015 season, and just like most of his team-mates who have found themselves in the same situation, the talented Slovenian decided to continue with revamped squad managed by Slipstream Sports and Jonathan Vaughters.
"I think it's all clear because there's been a merger with Garmin, Slipstream Sports. I had a contract with Cannondale and I'm staying with the team for 2015. They gave me a new contract and I've signed that," Mohoric told Cyclingnews at the start line of the Grand Prix Cycliste de Montréal.
Even if Cannondale team evidently lacked strength to support their leaders in biggest events, they proved to be very skillful in acquiring young talents, just to mention Peter Sagan, Davide Villella, Davide Formolo or George Bennett.
The 19-year old Slovenian was no exception, as he has won the U23 World Championships last year in Florence at the age of only 18, just one year after claiming the rainbow jersey in the junior category. Mohoric is yet to leave his first mark as a professional cyclist, but claims to be excited ahead of the 2015 season with a new outfit.
"I'm looking forward to being part of the team. It's exciting. It will be a different mentality for me as I've come from an Italian team and this is an American team, but I'm looking forward to the experience."
Reportedly Moreno Moser, Alan Marangoni, Kristijan Koren, Davide Villella also received offers from the team, what made a situation difficult with Garmin-Sharp riders running out of contract by the end of 2014.
While Rohan Dennis has already departed for BMC Racing, Raymond Kreder, Lachlan Morton, and Tyler Farrar have all confirmed that they will leave the team and David Millar decided to end his career, the future of the riders like Jack Bauer, Thomas Dekker, Caleb Fairly, Koldo Fernandez, Phillip Gaimon, Nick Nuyens, Johan Vansummeren, Steele von Hoff still remains uncertain.
