There is no end to the problems for Francesco Lasca . The sprinter from Caja Rural - Seguros RGA has practically missed the entire season due to a tendon problem and has now been forced to go under the knife again.
Two days ago Lasca underwent a new surgical procedure to try to definitively resolve the issue.
"I arrived in Pamplona on September 13. Unfortunately, not having noticed great improvements I preferred to return earlier to perform other investigations and see how the situation was. In the last check on September 15, there was a small improvement of the tendon in comparison with that prior to the operation," he said, according to Spaziociclismo.
"Unfortunately it is not yet enough to be back on the bike. After careful evaluation of the doctors, it was decided to repeat the less invasive surgery. Considering the depth of the area of the tendon, the type of inflammation and improvements (although minimal) with the previous intervention, would have involved more risks of muscle fibrosis and other complications that could affect the total recovery of the muscle and the tendon itself.
"I will probably the next two to three months in Spain. It is a very important time to understand what will happen to my future. I can only thank the team. They have been helping me to overcome this situation in the best way, giving me confidence. One day that is hopefully not too far away, I hope I can repay them on my bike. "
