After it was confirmed that the 2016 Giro would start in Apeldoorn, Holland, and feature two, maybe three, time trials, more rumours have emerged about the 2016 edition.
It is believed that the race will travel north once it returns to Italy from its foray abroad, and will feature a stage in Tuscany and its famous Strade Bianche, last used in 2010. One of the time trials is expected to be a mountain one. The Gavia will also feature at some point and the finish will be in Turin.
Various articles say that the Italian three-week Grand Tour, May 6 to 29, will include three stages in the Apennine Mountains, two in the Dolomites in the northeast and a grand finale in Piedmont. According to La Nazione, the eighth stage will finish in Arezzo after climbing the gravelled Alpe di Poti.
The full route will be released on October 5 by organisers RCS Sport in Milan.
