"The first option for our team is to place a rider in the break to take bonuses and why not go for the stage win. In case of a sprint, we will help Samuel Dumoulin who is very motivated."

Andrea Guardini (Astana) won the second stage of the Tour de Picardie in a bunch sprint. We have already posted a few reactions and below we have gathered a few more from Directvelo.

Alexis Bodiot (Armee), holder of the combination jersey
"I was happy to spend the day in a breakaway on the roads in my area. The start in the rain was chaotic, with lots of crashes. Then I joined the breakaway [with Pierre Latour (AG2R La Mondiale), Ralk Matzka (Bora Argon 18) and Evaldas Siskevicius (Team Marseille 13-KTM)]. We were lucky that Stéphane Rossetto (Cofidis) and Alo Jakin (Auber93) joined us because they were fresh. They upped the pace. On the other hand, they made it hard to follow. In the end, we believed in our chances of winning. I knew I was the fastest in the sprint but there was a moment of hesitation 2 km from the finish and that is perhaps where we lost it. At the flamme rouge, when I saw the wave that came behind us, it was over ... I'm starting to find the pace of pro racing. Tomorrow I will do everything to defend my jersey."

Evaldas Siskevicius (Team Marseille 13-KTM), holder of the mountains jersey
"A week after the 4 Jours de Dunkerque, the whole team is still tired. We must say we worked hard to help Ignas (Konovalovas) win the overall. But the form returns. Personally, I feel better and better. Today, Benjamin Giraud helped me to be up there when the break took off. Then I tried to manage my effort as best possible. I had a chance to win if we could do a four-rider sprint. But when we got to the last climb with 20'' just ahead and a headwind, I realized that it would be complicated to make i and I did not want to do too much  because guys like Alo Jakin and Stéphane Rossetto were fresher than us. I was a little wary of them. That said, we all worked well until about 1.5 km from the finish, when we were caught by the peloton. Tomorrow I hope to have recovered well from my efforts."

Christophe Riblon (AG2R La Mondiale), 82nd
"It's great to race at home in front of his family. We passed within 10km from where I live. These are my training roads. Sébastien Minard (AG2R La Mondiale) and William Bonnet (FDJ.fr) also live here, so we have an appointment to ride together. Tomorrow I will be on less familiar roads but there will be headwind and certainly still a sprint finish. The first option for our team is to place a rider in the break to take bonuses and why not go for the stage win. In case of a sprint, we will help Samuel Dumoulin who is very motivated. For my part, I am in recovery mode after La Roue Touerangelle and after a period of illness. I have a good feeling. On Monday, I will head to the Col du Lautaret [to the training camp of the AG2R La Mondiale team] to prepare for the months of June and July."
