Daniel Moreno finished 9th in Milano-Torino, one of the oldest European one-day races. In the 96th edition of the Italian classic Moreno finished at 36 seconds of the winner, Diego Rosa (Astana). Rosa finished solo, ahead of Rafal Majka (+0.16) from Tinkoff-Saxo and teammate Fabio Aru.

The final part of the race was characterized by a number of attacks with Dani Moreno in the middle of action. With 2,5 km to go, on the final climb it was Diego Rosa who attacked from the favorite’s group, taking a good gap, which was enough to win the race. Daniel Moreno tried to follow the attacks of rivals, but spent too much energy and finished 9th.

"To not be able to eat has an impact when you are on your limit. Good legs, zero force," he tweeted after the race.

In stage one of the Tour de l’Eurométropole, a 167,1 km stage from La Louvière to Chièvres (Belgium), Rudi Selig finished 9th in a bunch sprint won by Jens Debusschere (Lotto Soudal), ahead of Raymond Kreder (Roompot Oranje Peloton) and Timothy Dupont (Roubaix Lille Métropole).

“Rudi did a huge effort. He punctured at 8 kilometer from the finish, but thanks to his four teammates, he managed to come back and to do the sprint. It was nice to see him coming back and fighting for it,” explained team director Torsten Schmidt.

A sick Marco Haller did not take the start. Maxim Belkov was part of the 7-man break featured in the first kilometers of the race. Tomorrow’s stage 2 goes from Roubaix (France) to Poperinge in Belgium and has some nice Flemish Gent-Wevelgem climbs in the final.
