BiciCiclismo reports that Dani Moreno (1981) has revealed his calendar until April. He will start in Argentina and finish the first part of the year in the Ardennes, with Tirreno-Adriatico and the Tour of the Basque Country also on the schedule. The Tour de France is also planned in his return to Eusebio Unzue's Movistar Team.
Dani Moreno will make his debut his his new colors at the Tour de San Luis in Argentina, to be held between the 18th and 24th of January. The Argentinean race has often been the first event for the Spaniard who lives in the country during the winter.
From here, he will return to Spain to face a first part of the season that will have the Ardennes classics as the ultimate goal, with the aim being to support Alejandro Valverde after five years at the side of Joaquim Rodriguez at Katusha, a position that almost allowed him to win last year's Liege-Bastogne-Liege.
Moreno calendar after the debut in San Luis will be made up of the Vuelta a Murcia (February 13), Vuelt a Andalusia (February 17-21), Tirreno-Adriatico (March 9-15), his first WorldTour race of the year, GP Miguel Indurain (April 3), Vuelta al Pais Vasco (April 4-9), and finally the classics triptych: Amstel Gold Race (April 17), Fleche Wallonne (April 20) and Liege-Bastogne-Liege (April 24).
Despite working as a domestique, Moreno has some impressive results in the classics:
Fleche: 1st in 2013, 5th in 2015, 8th in 2011, 9th in 2014
Liege: 9th in 2014, 10th in 2015,
Amstel: 9th in 2014, 11th in 2015
The Spaniard, 35, will then face a second part of the season. Only a few details are known but it is likely to include the Tour de France, where his team, Movistar, will be led by Nairo Quintana after confirmation that Valverde will focus primarily on the Giro d'Italia.
Valverde's calendar means that he will race very little with Moreno. They will be together at Tirreno which is Valverde's only stage race before the Giro d'Italia and then in the Ardennes. Later they will combine forces at the Tour de France.
