Dani Moreno took a splendid win in the 5th and last stage of the 2015 Tour of Burgos, the queen stage to Lagunas de Neila. Moreno attacked in the last kilometer to the mountaintop finish and won 13 seconds ahead of Rein Taaramäe (Team Astana). Taaramäe is the Overall winner ahead of Michele Scarponi (Team Astana) and Dani Moreno, 2 and 9 seconds behind respectively. Moren's strong performance gave him the green jersey for the points classification for the Vuelta a Burgos. Team Katusha’s Egor Silin and Tiago Machado finished 10th and 12th Overall.

"It was very hard but the compensation is so nice, especially after my earlier two second places this week in Burgos. It was a hard fight against a strong Astana block, but in the end I took the stage win. I attacked at the right moment. David Belda and Pierre-Roger Latour attacked too early in my opinion. I attacked on the steepest part and in no time I caught the two leaders and made a nice gap to the others. It was good to see race leader López drop. Unfortunately I just did not take enough time on Taaramäe and Scarponi to win the Overall, like I did three years ago. I needed this win. I was so close already many times this year. This makes me happy," explained an emotional Dani Moreno.

Ten riders, with Moreno, three Movistar riders, Torres, Belda and three Astana’s tackled the last climb. Taaramäe and Scarponi kept the pace high to protect their leader Miguel Ángel López but López dropped when first Belda, and later Latour attacked. When Moreno counterattacked it was already clear that López would lose the Tour of Burgos.

"With a bit luck we also could have won the Overall. Now that we won the queen stage we will not complain, but Dani just misses nine seconds. We lost these seconds in the team time trial. However we may not complain of our team. We won two stages with Isaychev and Moreno and today Jhonatan Restrepo and Rudi Selig showed their good legs in breakaways," said Team Director Claudio Cozzi.
