Before heading to the last WorldTour race of the season, Il Lombardia, Team Katusha starts in two prestigious Italian UCI 1.HC one-day races: Milano-Torino (October 1st) and the Gran Piemonte (October 2nd).
After riding an aggressive World Championships, Daniel Moreno will lead the team in the hilly Milan-Turin and will have strong support from climbers Sergey Lagutin, Alberto Losada, Tiago Machado, Iurii Trofimov, Angel Vicioso and Eduard Vorganov. The team is completed by Jacopo Guarnieri. Last year Katusha won the race with Giampaolo Caruso who is now facing suspension after testing positive for EPO.
For Gran Piemonte, Moreno will be replaced by Ilnur Zakarin. Guarnieri is likely to lead the team in the race that is likely to favour the sprinters.
The team’s line-ups:
Milano-Torino: Jacopo Guarnieri, Sergey Lagutin, Alberto Losada, Tiago Machado, Daniel Moreno, Iurii Trofimov, Angel Vicioso and Eduard Vorganov.
Gran Piemonte: Jacopo Guarnieri, Sergey Lagutin, Alberto Losada, Tiago Machado, Iurii Trofimov, Angel Vicioso, Eduard Vorganov and Ilnur Zakarin.
