Martin Mortensen is confirmed as the final rider to join ONE Pro Cycling for 2016.
The Danish rider will transfer from Team Cult Energy bringing with him a wealth of experience. Mortensen spent two seasons with the Danish Team and was part of their roster as they made the transition from Continental to Pro Continental level earlier this year. He also has experience at World Tour level, having raced for Leopard Trek in 2011 and Vacansoleil – DCM in 2012.
Mortensen’s talent has been highlighted in the last few seasons winning this year’s inaugural Velothon Wales and accumulating stage wins in multiple UCI races including the Tour of Normandie, Ovolo Slovenska and the Czech Cycling Tour where he also took the overall Yellow jersey.
"I have followed the achievements of ONE Pro Cycling during their first year of racing and their ambition to succeed is very clear. I already have experience racing in Britain competing in the Tour of Yorkshire, Tour of Britain and Velothon Wales. The races were exciting and the crowds were insane and I'm looking forward to making a return representing a British team.
"If we work hard as a team and stay honest and loyal to each other I believe we have the talent and motivation to achieve big things. For me personally, I hope to be able to get a couple of wins on the UCI tour and be in contention for the Danish championships," said Mortensen.
Head Sports Director Matt Winston commented, "The addition of Martin to the squad will round up our roster nicely, while his experience racing across all levels of the sport will be a valuable asset to the team. I was very impressed with how he took his victory in Velothon Wales earlier this year proving that he’s a very versatile rider. Martin backed this up with another solid performance at this years Tour of Britain working tirelessly for his team leader during the week. It’s great to have Martin join ONE Pro Cycling and I believe he’ll give us plenty of options during our race programme next season."
Martin Mortensen is the final new signing to be announced by ONE Pro Cycling, completing a twenty-rider roster for 2016.
