Yesterday Gianni Moscon (Team Sky) announced his 2017 calendar which will include more WorldTour races than it did in 2016 when he already had the opportunity to do the Flemish classics. Shortly after announcement, he was interviewed by the radio show Ultimo Chilometro and revealed a little more about his goals and also announced plans to participate in the Vuelta.
"The team trusts me. They think I can do something good on the cobbles," he told Ultimo Chilometro. "This year I did not attack the early season too hard. The goal is to have a peak shape for the cobbled classics. Already this year I felt good and without crashes or mechanicals, I think I can do even better. So I hope I can seriously do something in the Belgian races and in Roubaix in 2017. In the second half of the season, if everything goes as planned, I will be able to make my debut in a Grand Tour at the Vuelta. But we'll talk more about his after the end of the first half of the season.”
In 2016 during his first professional year, Moscon won a stage and the overall standings of the Artic Race of Norway. In 2015, he finished second in the U23 Tour des Flanders.
