Moreno Moser will make another step in his career in 2017. After turning professional with Liquigas - Cannondale in 2012, the Italian has spent five seasons there but has decided join Astana next year.
After the successful start to his career which included an overall win in the Tour of Poland, Mose has only won one race since his victory in the early 2013 season at the Strade Bianche. The nephew of Francesco Moser hopes to bounce back in the Kazakh team and develop his potential.
"A new team is necessarily a new experience,” he tells Spaziociclismo. “I feel well here. I have the feeling that this is a large, close-knit group even if there are many different cultures under Kazakh management, also Italian and Danish. The sensations are good and I'm very confident for myself and also for the team and its future."
In an Italian contingent reduced after the departures of Vincenzo Nibali, Diego Rosa, Valerio Agnoli, Eros Capecchi, Andrea Guardini, Davide Malacarne and Alessandro Vanotti, Moreno Moser has ambitions.
"I'd be happy if I could win at WorldTour level in 2017. Strade Bianche or a stage in a Grand Tour would suit me. "
Moer who will turn 26 in late December was unlucky in 2016. He got several podiums, including two at the European and Italian TT Championships. He also missed out on victory at the Giro in Pinerolo where, he was surprised by the comeback of Matteo Trentin while he was focused on the duel with Gianluca Brambilla in the last kilometer. He didn’t have more luck in the Vuelta where he third on the stage to the Alto de Naranco.
"It was a good year, he said. “It was not entirely satisfactory because Il me missed the icing on the cake. Everyone remembers the Giro stage to Pinerolo and in the Vuelta I had some opportunities to do better. I still achieved good results and I confirmed my good sensations in the race against the clock. I'll try to do even better this year.”
"Maybe I considered my limits as too big and maybe now I begin to forget these limits,” added the Italian who hopes to win in 2017.
