Team Movistar is ready for their first two challenges of the year at the Tour Down Under, in Oceania, and the Tour de San Luis, in South America.
Like the past two seasons, Team Movistar will start their long 2013 with two stops in America and Oceania; The Tour Down Under in Australia -which opens the WorldTour on January 22-27, with the People’s Choice Classic in Adelaide as a preface two days earlier- and the Tour de San Luis -the most important stage race in South America, from the 21st to the 27th of January. The team will be bringing two strong rosters for both races.
In South Australia, José Luis Arrieta will direct a 7-man group composed by José Joaquín Rojas -3rd place finisher in 2008 and 2009, Javi Moreno -8th last year, after solid teamwork, Andrey Amador, José Herrada, Eros Capecchi -who will debut in his new colors-, Iván Gutiérrez and Giovanni Visconti.
In turn, six riders will defend the new Movistar Team jersey in the Spanish team's 3rd appearance in the Argentinian event which will be directed by José Luis Jaimerena, Jonathan Castroviejo, Juanjo Cobo, Jesús Herrada, Vladimir Karpets, debutant Eloy Teruel and Spanish road champion Fran Ventoso who will compete in America.
