Next week Alejandro Valverde and Movistar will be celebrated at an event in Madrid where they will be awarded the trophies for their overall wins in the WorldTour. With Spain being awarded the nations title, the country on the Iberian Peninsula will be completely dominant.
It's time to be officially recognized after another season full of magnificent exploits. A Movistar Team delegation led by General Manager Eusebio Unzué and the world's number one Alejandro Valverde will head to Madrid's Distrito Telefónica, their title sponsor's headquarters, on Monday to receive the individual and team prizes of the 2014 UCI WorldTour.
The gala which will be dominated by Spaniards as the Spanish federation RFEC takes the trophy for the best nation, will be attended by Brian Cookson - president of the Union Cycliste Internationale, already in charge of handing out the team prize to Movistar Team in 2013 - and Miguel Cardenal, Spain's Secretary of State for Sport. After the event, the members of the telephone squad will travel to Pamplona to start their annual pre-season meeting prior to 2015.
