According to the French cycling media Cyclismactu.net, the South African team MTN-Qhubeka is interested in signing the Norwegian Sky rider Edvald Boasson Hagen. MTN-Qhubeka is looking to increase their movements on the transfer market in general as well.
After the arrival of new sponsors, among them bike manufacturer Cervelo, MTN-Qhubeka is ready to recruit between 8-14 new riders in this period of transfers.
"We will try to recruit between 8 and 14 riders, "says CEO Brian Smith. "I am looking for experienced riders because we have a lot of young people in our roster. Among our new signings, we want to sign three big names. They have to be classics riders, both to the Flanders or Ardennes because we already have enough sprinters and climbers."
Among the riders the team wants to add to their roster is Edvald Boasson Hagen. CEO Brian Smith of MTN-Qhubeka has talked to Boasson Hagen’s agent and according to him, both parts are interested.
"I talked with Edvald and his agent. They are both interested, but I have the impression that many riders from the World Tour aren’t interested in going a step down to the Pro Continental teams. And I also think Boasson Hagen wants to stay on the World Tour."
