Road races usually serve as preparation for the winter for Philipp Walsleben (BKCP Powerplus) who belongs to the world elite in cyclo-cross. However, he is also one to watch on the road which he proved in 2015 when he was second in Circuit de Wallonie (1.2) and eighth in GP Pino Cerami (1.1).
"I'm satisfied with my road season. I had fun and was regularly in the breakaways. Sometimes I even had some small successes,” he told radsport-news.com.
Walsleben also benefited from the fact that he hardly suffered setbacks during the summer months. Ironically, nothing has worked in his favourite discipline. “But the disappointment in the current cross-season has hit me fully,” said the multiple German champion who is still waiting for his first top results.
"It's a combination of bad luck, sickness and jet lag," said Walsleben. He has not given up hope that thing will change. "My goal is still the victory in a major cross race,” Walsleben announced.
The plans for the upcoming road season have not been made yet. "But I don’t expect many changes,” said Walsleben who is likely to continue with the Belgian BKCP team.
