World champion David Muntaner from Spain and his Belgian partner Kenny de Ketele have taken the lead in the overall standings after the first night of the 104th Six Day of Berlin. On the same lap and with only 6 points less, German madison champions Leif Lampater/Marcel Kalz (46 points) are in second place. The two Danes Alex Rasmussen/Marc Hester (40) are third.
The favorites are all still close together as Andreas Müller/Andreas Graf (Austria / 38), Christian Grasmann/Bobby Lea (Germany/USA / 32) and Yoeri Havik/Nick Stöpler (Netherlands / 31) are on the same lap.
Earlier in the day Berlin mayor Michael Müller had opened the 104th edition of the race. In front of no less than 12,500 spectators, he gave the official start of the six-day event in the Velodrome at Landsberger Allee.
