Daniel Navarro faces his fourth season at Cofidis and has designed a classic schedule, with races like the Volta a Catalunya, the Vuelta al Pais Vasco and the Ardennes classics featuring in the first part of the calendar.
According to El Comercio, Volta a Valenciana (February 3-7), Vuelta a Murcia (February 13), Clasica de Almeria (February 14), Vuelta a Andalusia (February 17-21), Volta a Catalunya (March 21-27) , Vuelta al Pais Vasco (April 4-9), Fleche Wallonne (April 20) and Liege-Bastogne-Liege (April 24) are the races on his schedule until the end of April.
Navarro who is currently in Lloret de Mar with his team, is considereing whether he will do the Tour de France or the Vuelta a Espana or both like he did in 2014 and 2015.
This year, he was pursued by bad luck: first, he crashed in Andalusia, fracturing a few ribs; then he went down in the Volta a Catalunya, sustaining fractures to the scapula and patella; and finaly he crashed in the fifth stage of the Tour - in the same accident that sent Bouhanni home. He arrived in Paris with a bruised body, with injuries to his hip and the same knee that was injured in the Volta. In the Vuelta he could not show his best version.
"It is a season to erase from my 11 years as a professional. It was the worst in terms of results and luck. Due to the crashes, the sensations are not those of recent years. I do not know if it's because of crashes, discouragement or anything else, but I'm not feeling good," he told BiciCiclismo during the Spanish race.
He has four wins, a stage of the Dauphine (2010), a stage of the Tour l'Ain (2012), the Vuelta aMurcia (2013) and a stage of the 2014 Vuelta, and rode in support of Alberto Contador until 2012. He was also ninth in the 2013 Tour de France and tenth in the 2014 Vuelta. He has been riding for Liberty (2005), Astana (2006-2010), Saxo Bank (2011-2012) and Cofidis (2013-2015).
