After his second place in Forli, Southeast neo-pro Matteo Busato continued his excellent first Giro d'Italia in stage 18.

The young Italian did not hesitate to join the escape after 40km and rode in the lead until the end. In the end he finished fourth after having been narrowly edged out by Sylvain Chavanel in the sprint for third.
